What People Say About Us
Kathy Nacario
Center Director
Meet Our Director
After finding QI Montessori for her son when he was 2, Ms. Kathy developed a love for The Montessori Method. Professionally, Ms. Kathy was an event and wedding planner in the AZ private country club industry before staying home to raise her son. After 4 years as a stay-at-home mother, she decided The Montessori Method was a compelling reason for a career change from event and wedding planner to an educator. Upon completing her Montessori training in Las Vegas, she became the lead teacher in the Ocean Room. She has continued growing at QI Montessori and is currently the school director. Ms. Kathy has been with QI Montessori since 2007.
Ms. Kathy has been married to her husband Paul for 25 years, has one son, Brandon who is 18 and two furry babies; Cedric and Nina. In her downtime, she loves to read, cook and host dinner parties.
Ms. Kathy’s views on what benefits a Montessori education offers a child:
“I believe Montessori education benefits children in many ways. A Montessori education addresses the whole child: his physical, social, emotion and cognitive growth. As both a parent of a former Montessori student and an educator, one of the most important benefits is that a Montessori education recognizes is that children learn in different ways, and accommodates all learning styles. Students are also free to learn at their own pace, each advancing through the curriculum as he is ready, guided by the teacher and an individualized learning plan. It is through this freedom that the child will develop a lifelong love of learning.” – Ms. Kathy
Programs
Choosing a Montessori environment for your child has many benefits. Known for individually paced learning and fostering independence, the Montessori Method also encourages empathy, a passion for social justice, and a joy in lifelong learning. Given the freedom and support to question, probe deeply, and make connections, Montessori students grow up to be confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learners and citizens, accountable to both themselves and their community. They think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly and with integrity. Learn more about our programs below:
Infants and Toddlers: (Ages 6 months- 3)
Montessori Infant & Toddler programs lay the foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing your child’s curiosity, self-confidence, and intrinsic desire to learn from birth. A Montessori environment offers so much more than childcare for the youngest learners.
Montessori Infant & Toddler programs offer a curriculum that emerges from each child’s unique skills and interests. Based on daily observations, teachers introduce new materials and activities that pique curiosity and stimulate learning. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination.
Preschool (early childhood) ages 3-6
Montessori education is student-led and self-paced but guided, assessed, and enriched by knowledgeable and caring teachers, the leadership of their peers, and a nurturing environment.
Within the community of a multi-age classroom—designed to create natural opportunities for independence, citizenship, and accountability—children embrace multi-sensory learning and passionate inquiry. Individual students follow their own curiosity at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept and meet individualized learning goals.
Kindergarten
Kindergarteners are introduced to progressively more advanced Montessori materials and sophisticated, fascinating lessons. They experience an important period in which their previous learning from working with concrete Montessori materials begins to become permanent knowledge. A Montessori Kindergarten student sees and feels their personal growth as they watch others learn information, they have mastered themselves.
Kindergarten is the culmination of the Early Childhood program. Children exhibit the independence, critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership that they have been practicing during their previous years in the Early Childhood classroom, exercising them independently at their own pace, as they prepare to transition into an Elementary program.
